Ernest (“Ernie”) Hassan became a member of the State Bar of Michigan in 2004 where he has exclusively focused his practice on restructuring and bankruptcy matters. Ernie regularly represents fiduciaries, including receivers and chapter 7 trustees in complex matters. Additionally, Ernie represents small business owners and individuals in chapter 7 and chapter 11 engagements, where he serves as counsel for debtors and creditors, frequently involving chapter 5 claims for the recovery of preferential and fraudulent transfers. Ernie’s experience traverses a wide variety of business sectors from construction and real estate to healthcare.

Ernie was admitted to practice in United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, a sustaining member of the Eastern District of Michigan Bar Association, and a supporter of the Court Historical Society. A proud graduate of Catholic Central High School, Ernie completed his B.A. at the University of Michigan in 2001 and his J.D. at the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law in 2004.
